Our goal across our focus areas is to meet folks where they're at. Not only do we travel to our partner organizations' facilities, but we collaborate with program partners and participant artists every step of the way to ensure that our adaptive programming fosters joy, confidence, and well-being.
Our service area includes the Greater Richmond Region, Petersburg, and parts of Southside Virginia and our programming is delivered in two ways-
Explore our program focus areas below and give us a call to learn how Art on Wheels programming can fit the specific needs of your organization.
Aging in the Arts facilitates increased mental and physical activity in participant artists and improves overall wellness by fostering new friendships and increasing confidence.
The Arts and Disability curriculum focuses on methodology, which maximizes cognitive engagement and critical thinking abilities. This approach increases participant artists' feelings of success, self esteem, enjoyment and socialization by focusing on process rather than an end product.
The arts give people an opportunity to express difficult emotions while going through a challenging time in their lives. There is substantial research to support the benefits of arts participation for people with chronic illness, and our goal is to help people on their healing journey.
Our Arts in the Community programming seeks to increase public participation in the arts; encouraging creative ownership while providing community members with new opportunities to have meaningful arts experiences.
“It helps my morale, makes me feel good to do something different. Being my age and being able to do these things has given me confidence that I can do other things in my life as well. It helps me feel independent.”
- Ada, an Aging in the Arts participant artist
