Our Programs

Health and happiness for our community.

About our Programs

Our arts outreach provides a vital link between the therapeutic benefits of art making to communities which show substantial health improvements from arts participation, yet typically have low arts exposure. In order to create exceptional enrichment experiences our classes, workshops, and community art projects span a range of visual, music and performing arts activities. We work with local artists, educators, and music therapists to bring the very best to our community, and our participants. Our customized, professionally conducted curriculum and projects offer unique and challenging learning experiences and are adaptive to ensure age and ability appropriate programming. Our artists travel with all supplies to instruct participants in their own facilities, which enables our outreach to have a bigger impact on the region.

Our visual art, music therapy and performance art programs support four main focus areas.

Aging in the Arts

Assisted Living and Independent Living facilities, Senior Centers, Community Centers, and facilities serving older adults

Aging in the Arts fills the gap in activity at centers and residential facilities, facilitating increased mental and physical activity in students, and improving overall wellness by fostering new friendships and increasing confidence. Contact us with questions.

Program Objectives

  • Immerse seniors in a highly engaging learning environment, compounding positive health benefits.
  • Improve long-term mental wellness through the formation of new friendships as a result of collaborative bonding experiences
  • Create an empowering arts learning environment, where participants experience pride in accomplishments, and a desire to remain engaged in the arts.
  • Raise self confidence of participants by increasing difficulty of processes gradually.

Arts an Disability

Schools, Rehabilitative facilities, Group Homes, Community Groups, and facilities serving people with disabilities

The Arts and Disability curriculum focuses on methodology, which maximizes cognitive engagement and critical thinking abilities. This approach increases participant success, self esteem, enjoyment and socialization by focusing on process rather than an end product. Contact us with questions.

Healing in the Arts

Hospitals, Healthcare Centers, Transitional Shelters, Behavioral Health, and facilities serving chronically ill populations

The arts gives people an opportunity to express difficult emotions while going through a challenging time in their lives. There is substantial research to support the benefits of arts participation for people with chronic illness, and our goal is to help people on their healing journey. Contact us with questions.

Arts in the Community

Arts in the Community seeks to increase public participation in the arts; encouraging creative ownership while providing community members with new opportunities to have meaningful arts experiences. As a tool to build community support for the arts, community art opportunities are offered for the general public at local fairs, festivals and public events. Art on Wheels also creates custom art projects for corporations with volunteer engagement initiatives.
