Scribing into a Plastic Plate
A printmaking technique developed during the Middle Ages from the metalworking techniques of goldsmiths and armorers, drypoint was used by some of the most famous printmakers in history, including Rembrandt Van Rijn, Albrect Durer, and Francisco Goya. This technique evolved into etching, a highly regarded process still used today. In this class students will create their own drypoint, using tools to carve grooves into a plate. Aku waterbased Ink is then wiped across the plate and printed through a printmaking press.
